WFP Continues Food Support for Rohingya Refugees Despite Funding Challenges

The Office of the Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner (RRRC) has expressed deep gratitude to the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) and its donors for their continued support to Forcibly Displaced Myanmar Nationals (FDMNs) in Cox’s Bazar and Bhasan Char. Despite facing financial challenges, WFP has ensured that food assistance remains nearly stable, helping thousands of Rohingya refugees meet their basic needs.

Under the revised support plan, WFP will now provide USD 12 per person per month for Rohingya refugees living in Cox’s Bazar and USD 13 per person per month for those in Bhasan Char.This assistance plays a vital role in maintaining food security and preventing malnutrition among the displaced communities, who remain dependent on humanitarian aid for survival.

The RRRC has acknowledged WFP’s tireless efforts in securing funds to continue food assistance. The organization has been working hard to mobilize resources and ensure that vulnerable refugees receive the support they need, even as global humanitarian funding faces uncertainty.

The RRRC has also called on the international community to step up and provide additional funding. Continued support is essential to sustain life-saving programs for the Rohingya refugees, who have been living in Bangladesh since fleeing violence in Myanmar. Without sufficient funding, food aid and other essential services could be at risk, putting the well-being of thousands in danger.
