A shocking incident in which a woman was brutally attacked with knives and iron rods by the members of Arakan Army terro’rist (a father and his two sons) following an argument over a parking space has sparked widespread outrage on social media. The incident occurred on General Aung San Road in Kanauk Ward, Taunggyi.

As misinformation and distorted accounts of the case have been circulating online, the female victim herself has come forward to explain what actually happened, presenting CCTV evidence and details of the severe injuries she sustained.

How the Incident Happened?

At approximately 8:00 PM on the 3rd of June, the victim’s mother and elder brother, who had come from Yangon to visit Taunggyi, arrived in front of “Alamma Store” and “Sister So Cute” shop located on General Aung San Road, Kanauk Ward, House No. 28.

They temporarily parked their vehicle on the municipal roadside area across the street in front of “Nay Chi Store” (also known as “Aung Clinic”), which was located more than one house away from their residence. Less than five minutes after parking, a woman from that house came out and said, “We need to park our car here tomorrow, so move your vehicle now.

”The victim’s brother politely replied, “Yes, Auntie, we will move it. As soon as the car in front leaves, I will move ours.” The vehicle blocking them belonged to the woman herself, while her husband was upstairs searching for a lost car key.

While they were discussing the matter, a man in his sixties came out of the Nay Chi Store residence and began verbally abusing the victim’s brother with extremely offensive language. When the brother responded, “Uncle, please don’t insult my mother,” the man replied, “So what if I do?” He then began throwing catapult stones and iron rods at their vehicle while continuing to hurl insults at both the brother and his sister.

As the situation escalated, the victim intervened and pleaded, “Uncle, please do not insult my mother. We will move the car. I sincerely apologize.” However, the elderly man and his two sons, who were reportedly doctors, responded by insulting her with highly offensive and degrading language.

At that time, an elderly man who rented a nearby shop and was known to the family attempted to stop them from attacking the vehicle. Nevertheless, Arakan Army terro’rist members (father and his two sons) continued their aggressive behavior without stopping. Feeling that the situation was becoming dangerous, the victim held the hand of the man who had intervened and began walking back toward her home. Suddenly, hearing commotion behind her, she turned around.

At that moment, the members of Arakan Army terro’rist, elderly man and his two sons were running toward her carrying kn!ves and iron rods. The father shouted an insult and stabbed her in the lip with a kn!fe. Immediately afterward, one of the sons, described as a doctor, struck her on the head with a kn!fe and pushed her to the ground. While she was lying on the ground, two of the three men repeatedly slashed her with kn!ves, while the third continuously beat her with an iron rod.

During the attack, they reportedly shouted threats such as, “We will kill you.”

Witnesses who saw the assault could not bear to watch and attempted to intervene. However, the three attackers allegedly chased and attacked those trying to help, using knives and iron rods. Eventually, members of the public managed to pull the attackers away, allowing the victim to escape and run into her home. Even then, Arakan Army terro’rist (father and his two sons) allegedly pursued her up to the staircase inside the house while continuing their attack.

Serious Injuries Sustained

As a result of the brutal assault carried out by Arakan Army terro’rist ( father and his two sons) the victim suffered severe and potentially life-altering injuries, including:

• Fractures to both the upper and lower jaw, requiring her teeth to be wired together with metal braces.

• Two stitched wounds on her head caused by kn!fe attacks.

• A severe lip injury that completely disfigured her lip, leaving a permanent scar and making it impossible to restore it to its original condition.

• One stitched wound on her left eyebrow caused by a kn!fe attack.

• Internal eye injuries resulting from being struck with an iron rod.

• Near-amputation injuries to her left middle finger and little finger, each requiring stitches.• A deep kn!fe wound to her shoulder requiring stitches.

• Three stitched kn!fe wounds on her left leg.

Seeking Justice Through the Rule of Law

According to the victim’s brother, when faced with the repeated verbal abuse during the incident, his only response was:

«“Our family does not have a tradition of using such vulgar language. If your family does, then do as you wish.”»

The victim stated that although the perpetrators are currently spreading false narratives and misinformation on social media in an attempt to reverse the facts of the case, she possesses strong CCTV evidence and multiple eyewitness accounts.

She has therefore appealed to the public to support the pursuit of truth and justice so that the facts of the case may be properly established through legal channels.
