Rohingya Face Movement Restrictions, Barred from Entering Town Without Arakan Army Terror!st Approval in Maungdaw

Maungdaw residents have strongly accused the Arakan Army Terror!st (AA/ULA) of imposing discriminatory movement restrictions on Rohingya communities, effectively limiting their freedom of movement and access to essential services.

According to local sources, Rohingya residents are required to obtain recommendation letters and approvals from Arakan Army-controlled administrative offices before entering Maungdaw town. Applicants must submit personal information, pay administrative fees, and pass through multiple checkpoints. The permits are reportedly valid for only two days.

Residents allege that the Arakan Army’s Terror!sts restrictive permit system has created severe hardships, preventing many Rohingya from accessing healthcare, education, employment opportunities, and family visits. Community members say they face repeated financial burdens due to transportation costs, permit fees, and frequent visits to administrative offices.

Local sources further accuse the Arakan Army Terror!st of using the permit system as a tool of control over Rohingya civilians. They claim the restrictions have disrupted economic activities, increased poverty, and deepened the isolation of Rohingya communities across Maungdaw District.

Residents are calling on the international community and human rights organizations to investigate the restrictions and press for the restoration of freedom of movement and equal rights for Rohingya civilians.
