The Endless Suffering of the Rohingya People

For many years, the Rohingya people have been trapped between two dictators forces: the Myanmar military junta and the Arakan Army terro’rist. We have suffered greatly under both sides and have become victims of violence, displacement, and oppression. We are ordinary civilians, yet we continue to bear the heaviest burden of conflict.

Our homes have been destroyed, our villages burned, and our lives shattered. Countless Rohingya families have lost everything they owned. Markets, schools, madrassas, mosques, and religious institutions have been damaged or destroyed. Our ancestral lands, passed down from generation to generation, have been taken from us. Many families can no longer recognize the places where they once lived because entire communities have been erased.

Today, nearly one million Rohingya live as refugees in Bangladesh. We are grateful for the shelter, food, and humanitarian assistance provided by Bangladesh and the international community. However, no matter how much support we receive, life in exile can never replace the feeling of living in our own homeland.

Our hearts remain in Arakan, where our ancestors lived for centuries. Even if our homes were reduced to ruins, even if we had to live in simple shelters on our own land, we would still prefer our homeland to life as refugees in a foreign country. The soil of our motherland means more to us than comfort elsewhere.

The Rohingya people do not seek conflict. We seek peace, dignity, justice, and the right to live safely in our own country. We dream of the day when we can return home without fear, rebuild our communities, and live as equal human beings in the land of our ancestors.Until that day comes, our pain continues, but so does our hope.
