Rohingya People Stranded in Sittwe After Paying Huge Sums for Travel

More than 200 Rohingya people from Maungdaw and Buthidaung have traveled to Sittwe, hoping to receive help from a military officer named Oo Kyaw Thura. They each paid 60 lakhs Myanmar kyat, believing his promise that they would be allowed to go to Yangon. Additionally, they paid another 30 lakhs for temporary cards that would allow them to travel safely. However, after receiving the money, Oo Kyaw Thura has remained silent and refuses to sign their cards.

Now, these people are stuck in Sittwe with no way forward. They cannot go to Yangon as promised, and they cannot return to Bangladesh either. With no official documents or permission, they live in fear of being arrested or harmed. Many of them have spent all their savings, leaving them with no money for food, shelter, or medical care.

The situation has created deep fear and uncertainty. Families who dreamed of finding safety in Yangon are now left in despair. They feel abandoned and cheated, with no one to turn to for help. Every day, they wait for a response from the officer, but nothing happens. Their hopes are slowly fading as they struggle to survive in a place where they are not welcome.

This tragic situation highlights the ongoing suffering of the Rohingya people. Caught between danger and broken promises, they remain trapped with no clear future. Their desperate call for justice and humanitarian support must not be ignored. The world needs to act before their suffering grows even worse.
