Right group has called on the Malaysian government to take immediate action against the growing spread of hate speech, discrimination, and threats targeting Rohingya refugees in the country.

According to ARTICLE 19, recent online misinformation and false claims about the Rohingya community have fueled hostility and anti-Rohingya sentiment. The organization warned that such rhetoric could lead to discrimination, harassment, and violence against Rohingya refugees.

The group also expressed concern over threats directed at Rohingya activists and community leaders, urging authorities to investigate any incitement to violence and hold those responsible accountable.

ARTICLE 19 called on the Malaysian government to publicly condemn hate speech, promote equality and non-discrimination, protect freedom of expression, and strengthen measures to safeguard refugees from violence and abuse.

The organization emphasized that Rohingya refugees are a vulnerable community fleeing persecution and should be treated with dignity and respect in accordance with international human rights principles.
