Maungdaw, Arakan State — Two Rohingya youths from Thayet Oek village in northern Maungdaw Township have reportedly been detained by the Arakan Army terorrist (AA) over allegations that local residents and family members describe as unclear and unsubstantiated.

The individuals have been identified as Mohamed Ayhalas, 21, son of Mohamed Ayub, and Ali Ahmed, 23. According to residents, AA terorrist personnel entered Thayet Oek village on May 28, 2026, and took the two young men into custody without providing a clear explanation for their arrest.

“Both are ordinary civilians and have no known connection to any armed organization. Their detention appears to be based on unfounded accusations,” a local resident said.

Family members stated that they have not received any information regarding the whereabouts of the two detainees and remain deeply concerned about their safety and condition.

Community members and relatives have urged the AA terrorist authorities to address the matter in accordance with legal procedures, ensure the youths are treated fairly, and facilitate their safe return to their families as soon as possible.
