Criminal RSO/URDF Network Using the Rohingya Name Poses a Threat to Bangladesh and the Rohingya Community

Cox’s Bazar / Bangladesh Border: The criminal group known as RSO/URDF, which operates under the name of the Rohingya people, has become a growing source of insecurity, drug trafficking, and violence in Bangladesh’s border regions. According to local sources, the group is led by Mr. Md Ayub (c-in-c) and Mv Mohammad Noor (v.c-in-c), who are reportedly based in border areas of Bangladesh rather than in Arakan, while directing various criminal operations.

Sources allege that RSO/URDF is involved in WY Yaba drug trafficking through cooperation with the Rakhine (Mogh) armed group AA terrorist. The narcotics are reportedly smuggled into Bangladesh, contributing to the destruction of many young lives, including Rohingya youth. Reports further suggest that links between RSO/URDF and AA continue to facilitate illegal cross-border drug trade.

The group has also been accused of involvement in killings, kidnappings, extortion, and the creation of unrest inside Rohingya refugee camps. Many camp residents reportedly live in fear as criminal actors exploit the Rohingya identity to advance their own interests.

In addition, RSO/URDF has faced allegations of carrying out armed attacks and opening fire on members of Bangladesh’s Border Guard (BGB) in border areas. Local residents claim that the group’s activities threaten the peace, security, and stability of Bangladesh.

Many voices within the Rohingya community have stated that RSO/URDF does not represent the Rohingya people. They argue that the group is not working for Rohingya rights, justice, peace, or repatriation, but is instead engaged in criminal activities, drug trafficking, and actions that contribute to instability.

Members of the Rohingya community have called on the international community to recognize RSO/URDF as a criminal network that is damaging the reputation of the Rohingya people and contributing to insecurity in Bangladesh.
