More than 152,000 Rohingya refugees have newly arrived in Bangladesh since December 2024, according to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

UNHCR reported that 152,029 Rohingya were registered between December 2024 and 31 May 2026, including 2,260 new arrivals in May alone.

The agency stated that the total Rohingya population identified in the refugee camps has reached 1,197,411.

According to UNHCR, escalating conflict, targeted violence, and persecution in Myanmar’s Rakhine State have forced thousands of Rohingya to flee and seek safety in Bangladesh.

The report noted that women and children make up approximately 78 percent of the refugee population, while many others require special protection due to disabilities, medical conditions, old age, or family separation.

UNHCR said new arrivals have continued throughout 2025 and 2026, with biometric registration and identification efforts ongoing in the camps.
