A Rohingya fisherman was killed, another was seriously injured, and two others remain missing after a fishing boat carrying Rohingya refugees reportedly came under fire on the Naf River near the Waikhong border area along the Myanmar–Bangladesh frontier on June 6, according to local sources.

The sources said that four Rohingya fishermen from refugee camps in Bangladesh were fishing in the Naf River when armed members of the Arakan Army (AA) allegedly approached by boat and opened fire. The attack reportedly resulted in the death of one fisherman, serious injuries to another, and the disappearance of the remaining two individuals aboard the vessel.

The deceased was identified as Mohammad Faruk, a resident of Rohingya Refugee Camp No. 13, whose body was later recovered near the mouth of the Konar Hali River. The injured fisherman, Mohammad Anu, also from Camp No. 13, is currently receiving treatment at a local hospital. The two missing fishermen have not yet been located, and no information regarding their whereabouts has been made available as search efforts continue.
